SUBER James Lamar Suber, Sr. went home to be with his Lord on May 27, 2008. He was a native of Jacksonville born to Daniel Webster and Annie Lou. Mr. Suber retired in 1991 with 36 years service from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. His career began as a Deputy with the Duval County Road Patrol and later under consolidation, became part of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office retiring as a Detective Lieutenant after commanding the Homicide Unit and Crime Lab. In addition to his long civil service career, he was a Korean veteran and served in the National Guard for 42 years after obtaining the NCO rank of Command Sergeant Major, Mr. Suber retired as a CW4 in 1991. Mr. Suber was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5-30, Past Worshipful Master of Riverview Masonic Lodge #306, F. & A.M., and served as the Potentate of the Morocco Shrine in 1997. He was one of the founding members of the Morocco Temple Crippled Children's Transportation Unit. His work with the Shrine was one of the highlights of his retirement years. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jewel, daughter, Sandra Ellis, son James, Jr. (Kathy), grandchildren, Jamey and Angela Suber, Jennifer Stanton and Stacy Dahlgren (Paul) and 5 great-grandchildren. The visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 6-8pm at Hardage Giddens Blanding Chapel 5753 Blanding Blvd. The service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Hardage Giddens Blanding Chapel 5753 Blanding Blvd. with Reverend Clarence E. Jarrell, FOP Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in his honor to the Patient Transport Fund, c/o Morocco Shrine, P.O. Box 16039, Jacksonville, FL 32245. |
